I sometimes keep and continue to use these products that I did not pay for after posting my review, which might be considered a form of compensation for my review, but I do not believe that I let that color my review.

So yes, I believe there are far more people conscious of simplicity and battery life than geotagging.Pursuant to 16 CFR Part 255, the Federal Trade Commission's Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising, please note: (1) iPhone software and hardware developers routinely send me free versions of their products to review. I also can pretty much remember where every photo I took was taken, with a 70+ year old memory. I see utterly no need to view on a map, where I've been. I travel(ed) all over the world 4 to 6 months each year. I can certainly understand the desire of geotagging if I'm out in the bush. I really just wish Sony would make a hotshoe GPS accessory or something. I found almost no information on this and took me weeks to figure out it simply wasn't possible. You and me must be the only people on earth who cares about this, hah. It’s surprising more people aren’t highlighting the issue - or maybe there aren’t so many people trying to achieve an iPad only workflow without compromising on their geotags. And it’s worse, if you geotag the images in Photos on the iPad using iOS apps, it’s possible to end up with 2 different locations for the same image - one for the original image and one according to the Photos library. Thanks for posting this, it summarises my conclusions so far. You can also filter by location in LR Mobile, just not see the map. It displays in the web app and in the desktop app. If I import into Lightroom Mobile, however, the GPS data does not show up.Įdit: After a little more testing, it seems that the GPS data is actually there, but not visible in LR Mobile. The GPS shows up when viewing the image in camera and if I open it with the Metapho app or import into Apple Photos on my 2021 iPad Pro. Sorry for digging up an old thread, but can anyone confirm that this works with Lightroom Mobile? I just got a Sony A7C and have the Sony app working to geotag pictures. The Z battery is so good I wish they'd just add an internal GPS mechanism. Tip: a phone's battery saver mode can interfere with imaging edge's ability to auto connect to the phone. I hope this was fixed in the updated menu system Sony is applying to newer cameras. The way imaging edge mobile connects via wifi/bluetooth from camera to phone can be ridiculously confusing and not work frequently. If you lose connection to the camera, it becomes a huge headache to reconnect and getting it working again. You would need Cellular to have GPS? I think the iPad with Wifi only has no GPS capability. I think Geotagging might only be possible on a Wifi + Cellular iPad.

Plus I could start editing photos in my downtown on my trips rather than waiting for when I get home. It's a killer not being able to geotag photos considering how much that geotag information can be used to create albums, photo maps, and much more. If someone could tell me how wrong I am about this and provide their method of Geotagging on the iPad, I'd be so happy. This means if you're traveling with only your ipad and you backup your photos to Lightroom, you will never be able to geotag them. All RAW files in lightroom CC/mobile live in the cloud, so the lightroom library can never be geotagged.

It is also not possible to geotag a photo in Lightroom CC/mobile after they've been imported. You can enter location data in CC but it does not change the EXIF data, so it will lose that information once it is exported from lightroom.

Unfortunately Lightroom Mobile (and even Lightroom CC) have no way of geotagging photos. If an app could geotag a photo before importing into Apple Photos or Lightroom that would work, but this app does not exist yet. There are currently no apps that can geotag photos from anywhere outside of Apple Photos either. By the time you realize what happened you have wasted a lot of time. But Metapho can only do this by creating another RAW file that is much lower quality than the original RAW file.

It will even show up as tagged after importing/exporting through lightroom. If you use an app like Metapho, it will appear to change your exif data for geotagging. But once you bring that image out of Apple Photos (ie import from Apple Photos to Lightroom) it will lose its geotagged data.

If you use a geotagging app on the iPad, it will geotag it for iOS.

The 2018 iPad Pro can not geotag RAW images. I racked my brain for days trying to figure this out.
